  • You know you should be wearing SPF daily, but keep finding reasons not to
  • Every formula you’ve tried has either left a white cast, a greasy finish, or irritated your skin/ eyes
  • If sunscreens that claim hydration actually leave your skin parched
  • You want sun protection that also supports brightness, clarity, and even tone
  • You're using UV-sensitive actives like retinoids or vitamin C that require reliable sun protection
  • You want a high-performance PA++++ UVA defence in a formula that still feels light and comfortable enough to wear every day
  • You want a sunscreen completely free from older, unstable or endocrine disrupting filters

Immediately: Broad-spectrum protection from first application with an added dose of hydration and TEWL protection. Skin feels comfortable, hydrated, and non-sticky

When Outdoors: The filters remain photostable over time, but sunscreen naturally shifts with touch, sweat, and movement. If commuting, walking or exposed to direct sun, reapply every two hours

When Indoors: If indoors with minimal sweating, reapply every four hours for continued protection. UV and Blue Light reach you even when indoors except in extremely dark spaces

During Intense Activity: For swimming, hiking, outdoor sports, or heavy sweating, opt for a waterproof sunscreen — water-resistant does not equate to waterproof. Irrespective of the sunscreen you choose, you must reapply after swimming or sweating to maintain protection

How To Use

How To Use

Apply two generous finger lengths to the face and one finger length to the neck as the final step of your morning skincare routine. Spread gently and evenly across the skin.

Let it settle for 4–5 minutes before applying makeup to allow the sunscreen to form a protective film.

Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors and every 4 hours when indoors.

Why We Made New Light

Why We Made New Light

Liquid sunscreens can drip, pool, and sting the eyes, making even the recommended two-finger application feel unpleasant. Mineral formulas are also notoriously known to leave a visible white or grey cast — one of the biggest reasons Indian skin tends to avoid sunscreen altogether.

I wanted to create a sunscreen that felt genuinely comfortable to wear: lightweight, invisible on Indian skin, and easy enough to use every single day. Incorporating newer-generation UV filters was equally important to me — filters with larger molecule structures that offer high-performance protection, remain photostable, and are designed to minimise systemic absorption. The idea was simple: create the kind of sunscreen people wouldn’t want to skip.

FAQs

UVA radiation makes up the majority of UV rays that reach the skin. It penetrates deeper than UVB (into the dermis) where it damages collagen and elastin, drives pigmentation, tanning, and uneven tone, and accelerates photoageing. PA++++ is the highest UVA protection rating and is what to look for on a label.

UVB radiation is responsible for sunburn and direct DNA damage to skin cells. It is the primary driver of sunburn and plays a significant role in skin cancer risk. SPF measures UVB protection specifically and SPF 50 filters out approximately 98% of UVB rays.

Blue light, emitted by screens and the sun, contributes to oxidative stress and pigmentation over time. For anyone spending significant time in front of screens or outdoors, it is worth protecting against. Certain filters (like Tinosorb A2B) can help shield from blue light exposure but more importantly- good antioxidants help neutralize the damaging effects of blue light.

Mineral filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) sit on the skin's surface and work by absorbing and scattering UV radiation. They are considered safe because they sit on the surface of the skin mostly. They often leave a white cast, particularly on deeper skin tones. Chemical filters (organic chemical filters to be precise) absorb UV radiation before it can penetrate the skin, much like mineral filters.

Newer-generation organic filters can absorb, reflect and scatter UV radiation to deliver superior photoprotection and due to larger molecular sizes they offer this with a safety profile similar to mineral filters. Without the white cast.

Older chemical filters like oxybenzone, octinoxate, and avobenzone have raised increasing regulatory concern around systemic absorption and potential endocrine disruption. Newer-generation filters like Tinosorb S, Tinosorb A2B, Uvinul A Plus, and Uvinul T 150 are large-molecule filters designed to remain on the skin's surface without meaningful absorption into the bloodstream. They provide hybrid protection where some of them can not only absorb, but also scatter and reflect radiation. This allows usage in lower quantities to give better protection keeping the chemical load on skin low.

They are also more photostable, meaning they don't break down under sun exposure, which older filters like avobenzone are known to do. This makes the protection last longer.
